Based at Sturgate airfield near Heapham between Gainsborough and Lincoln on the edge of the Waddington MATZ and the Red Arrows training zone (R313).

First established in 1956 with a single Taylorcraft flying from a private farm strip in Lincolnshire. The Lincoln Aero Club operated from several airfields before settling at the former RAF airfield at Sturgate in 1985.

Sturgate airfield was built in WW2 to support the many local bomber bases. In the heart of Bomber County, it is close to RAF Scampton, (presently the home of the Red Arrows), and Hemswell, both Lancaster squadron bases.

At the end of WW2 and prior to the Korean war, RAF Sturgate was handed over to the USAF when it became a training airfield for jet fighter pilots.
